The retail group Rusta continues its rapid growth. In 2017, Rusta inaugurated its 100th store. On Wednesday April 19, Rusta opened store number 199 in Vimmerby, Sweden. On Thursday 20 April, the ribbon was cut for store 200 in Kerpen, Germany, just outside Cologne.
– We are proud to have reached a milestone today by opening Rusta ‘s 200th store. It is both gratifying and symbolic that one of this week ‘s openings took place in our home market of Sweden, where we have operated since 1986, and the other one in a country where we see great potential for future growth, says Göran Westerberg, CEO of Rusta.
Rusta opened its first store in Gävle, 37 years ago. Since then, both sales and the number of new stores have seen consistent and strong growth. For the financial year 2021/2022, the Rusta group, which has stores in Sweden, Norway, Finland and Germany, reported a turnover of SEK 9.4 billion.
During the financial year, Rusta opened 13 stores across its four markets, 2 in Sweden, 6 in Finland, 3 in Norway and 2 in Germany. The store in Kerpen is the second of five stores that Rusta plans to open in Germany in 2023.
– Rusta is approaching the point where a majority of our sales takes place outside Sweden, with Germany being a growing market and a significant factor for our expansion. We are pleased to see that the Rusta concept is well-received in the German market, and we anticipate continued expansion opportunities, says Göran Westerberg.
All 200 stores are continuously developed in line with Rusta’s overall vision. The concept is built around large volume purchasing, keen monitoring of consumer trends, and efficient logistics, all without costly intermediaries. This way, Rusta can offer in-demand products while providing consumers with the most competitive prices.
– We remain committed to further refining our organization and value chain to ensure we maintain our broad product range at the prices our customer expect from Rusta, says Göran Westerberg.
