The retail group Rusta has announced the election of Erik Haegerstrand as the new Chairman of the Board. Erik will assume the position on March 1, 2022. Rusta’s current Chairman, Anders Forsgren, Co-founder and main owner, will remain a member of the Board.
Born 1959, Erik Haegerstrand boasts an extensive background in leadership roles within the Bonnier Group. He most recently held the position as Chairman of the Board and former CEO of the parent company Bonnier Group. In addition, Erik has accrued considerable board experience across several companies, including Bisnode, Nordic Cinema Group and Albert Bonnier AB.
– I’m delighted to welcome Erik as the new Chairman of the Board. Following a prolific career with the Bonnier Group, Erik has distinguished himself as a wise and deeply respected businessman and advisor to a myriad of management teams, boards, and notably, owners. Combined with our retail acumen, his vast experience will be instrumental in steering Rusta’s ongoing expansion and growth, says Anders Forsgren, Rusta’s founder and board member.
Erik Haegerstrand’s assumption of the chairmanship coincides with Rusta’s international expansion phase and heightened ambitions for the future . Rusta offers a wide selection of home and leisure products at the market’s lowest prices across 184 stores and through online sales. The vision ahead is to consolidate the low-price position in existing markets while paving the way for continued geographical expansion.
– It’s exciting to be part of Rusta’s successful expansion journey. I’m eager to work closely with the management and the two founding families, says Erik Haegerstrand ahead of his chairmanship of Rusta AB’s board.
The appointing of new external Chairman of the Board is part of Rusta’s plan to instate long- term corporate governance within the group. Besides Erik Haegerstrand, Rusta’s Board of Directors consists of Anders Forsgren (Co-founder and primary owner), Björn Forssell (representing the principal owner, family Forssell), Claes Ericsson (partner) and Maria Edsman (external member) and Victor Forsgren (deputy).
